15 September 2016      Cheryl Pick, Projects and Engagement Manager

AUDE Big Conversation

Our inaugural Big Conversation event takes place on 12 January 2017 which will focus on Brexit for the HE sector.

  • Date: Thursday 12 January 2017
  • Venue: Saw Swee Hock Student Centre, London School of Economics. 1 Sheffield Street, London WC2A 2AP
  • Time: 10.00 - 16.00
  • Registration: To book your place please register online
  • Cost for AUDE members: £75.00
  • Cost for corporate places: £295.00 - places are limited, see below for further details

Speakers include:

  • Sir Simon Hughes, Head of Public Affairs, Open University. Former Justice Minister and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats
  • Professor Sir Ian Diamond, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen
  • David Morris, Director, Deputy Editor, Wonkhe
  • Andrew Burgess, Deputy Chief Operating Officer, Loughborough University. Former AUDE chair
  • Andrew McConnell OBEDirector of Finance at The University of Huddersfield
  • Peter Aitchison, Director of Communications and Public Affairs at the University of Glasgow. Former BBC news editor
  • A small number of corporate supporters will be in attendance too.

This event will provide a forum and opportunity for discussion, consultation and exchange; for attendees to consider, and be advised upon a matter at the top of the HE agenda – what will ‘Brexit’ mean for the sector?

The format will allow for debate and idea sharing amongst members of Estates Teams around the country, with input from industry expert speakers such as Professor Sir Ian Diamond (Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Aberdeen) and David Morris (Director, Deputy Editor, Wonkhe), and a small amount of corporate supporters in attendance too. It is hoped that there will be further ‘Big Conversations’ in future, covering other topics pertinent to the sector.

Who can attend?

AUDE members
The event is open initially to one representative from each institution at a heavily subsidised cost of just £75.00 as there are only a limited amount of delegate places. The event is open to everyone in your estates teams, not just to directors and deputies, and we would encourage you to send a representative. To book your place please register online

Corporate delegates
A small amount of corporate places will be available for a company to send one delegate to the event. Please email aude@assuredevents.com to express your interest. AUDE will consider the applications and invite an even spread of corporate support industries to the event. You should only register for a corporate place if you have been invited to do so.

Corporate places will be charged at £295.00 per delegate for the day.

We really think that this opportunity to get various sector representatives to talk openly about what Brexit might mean for the UK HE sector is invaluable, and look forward to welcoming as many institutions as possible. If you have any questions about booking, please contact Assured Events on 0161 428 1115 or aude@assuredevents.com .
