Emergency Management
Planning for and Managing Emergencies: A Good Practice Guide for Higher Education Institutions published by the Association for University Chief Security Officers (AUCSO) 2008.
This publication focuses on the management of emergencies from an estates and security point of view.
The publication results from a project managed by Bernadette Duncan MBE, Head of Security City University London, and two emergency management consultants, Lucy Easthope and Dr Anne Eyre, who carried out the research and development of the Guide.
The research included existing good practice in the emergency management sector and particularly in HEIs. Lessons learned from previous emergencies, such as Virginia Tech, 7/7, flooding in the UK, 9/11 etc, were all considered.
The Guide provides some excellent advice, guidance and templates for anyone developing emergency plans for Universities or HEIs.
