The Impact of COVID-19 on HE and the Economy

20 October 2020      Corinne Merriman, Events Manager

Join our international strategic partners on Thursday 29th October at 09:00 - 11:30 for a virtual international membership webinar discussing the impact of COVID-19 on higher education and the economy: successful global interventions and innovations.

Following on from the successful September international webinar, our Southern African partners (HEFMA) wanted to provide further opportunity for more international partners to join in and deliver another session to our members. HEFMA are hosting this webinar and have invited AUDE members to join.

The theme of the event is around successful interventions and innovations. Speakers will share any of their success stories in tackling COVID-19 protocols on their campuses. This will serve to benefit all our various associations’ members, if they can be inspired by positive interventions.

The webinar will have speaker representatives from AUDEAPPA (Leadership in Educational Facilities, America), HEFMA (Higher Education Facilities Management Association for Southern Africa) and TEFMA (Tertiary Education Facilities Management Association, Australia). The Higher Education Department (South Africa) will also participate; where it will present on the funding of institutions, which has been impacted by the pandemic.

Speakers:

  • Professor Stan du Plessis: Professor and Chief Operating Officer: Stellenbosch University
  • Dr Diane Parker: Deputy Director General: Department of Higher Education
  • E. Lander Medlin: APPA Executive Vice President (USA)
  • Umesh Desai: Director of Estates & Commercial Services, De Montfort University (AUDE)
  • TEFMA Representative (Australia)

Each presenter would have 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for questions and discussion (time).
