Events > Annual Conference > Networking

As our 2021 conference is now taking place online of course this means that unavoidably, we won’t be able to replicate the same networking opportunities that we would typically have at our transitional conference. However, AUDE recognises the immense value of networking for both members and supporter organisations and is committed to ensuring that the 2021 conference still provides an excellent opportunity for networking and business development. Please see below how networking at the AUDE 2021 conference will be facilitated and encouraged.

Conference etiquette

Please do get involved, we know the importance of ensuring that an online event is interactive, so would welcome your input – be present, ask questions, make comments, and engage with others on the platform. We recommend closing any email notifications and silencing mobile phones during the afternoon. There will be opportunities to ask questions and take part in a Q&A via chat – each session host will signpost these in the sessions. Please do not share details of our Hopin invite, the event is for pre-registrations only.

Attendee information

All attendees will be given a unique link to access the Hopin conference platform prior to the conference. Once you have received the link please look around the platform and take you time to set up your profile on the platform. We are encouraged attendees to supply a picture, along with other information such as job title, institution, and twitter/LinkedIn details to help with networking. This information will then be available to all other attendees via the attendee list/bar on the right-hand side of the Hopin platform during the event.

Networking rooms

The Hopin platform allows any attendee to set up a private meeting room at any time (either Live or Scheduled) with other attendees. This will facilitate networking by allowing seamless meetings, without having to coordinate on systems outside of the conference.

Start a conversation

At a face-to-face event, if you spotted someone you wanted to speak to, you would walk over and say "hello". In an online event that somehow feels a little more awkward! Yet it should not do. For the benefit of networking, we are encouraging all attendees to start a chat with anyone they would like to speak to, just as you would face-to-face. And if someone starts to chat with you, please be courteous and respond! It is not face-to-face, but the same social rules apply. If you do not get a response, then we suggest to kindly move on. We know you have all missed networking over the last year so would be great to see lots of networking taking place over the 5 days of the conference. We have ensured that there are lots of breaks in the programme to allow this.

Wellness programmes and social sessions

We are also incorporated wellness programmes and social sessions into the conference programme, this includes;

  • Everyday yoga and tone at home - 30 minutes available on demand
  • Family quiz - Tuesday 13th at 17:00 - 18:00
  • Live lunchtime cook along - Friday 16th April at 12:00 - 12:40
