Simon Fanshawe OBE

Co-founder of Diversity by Design and author of the report “Diversity – the new prescription for the NHS”

Simon is a co-founder and partner of Diversity by Design; a ground-breaking consultancy that works with organisations to develop diversity solutions to strategic questions, in order to build greater performance:

Diversity by Design is currently running a significant trial of Recruiting for Difference (RfD) with 20 NHS Trusts to present to NHSE in the autumn. They are partnering with Nottingham University Faculty of Engineering on an EPSRC funded project on diversity in engineering (HE and private sector) which will trial and produce software to support RfD.

Diversity by Design’s current clients include: Sheffield, Cardiff, Exeter, Manchester, Nottingham, Newcastle, Universities, East Lancs NHS Trust, the Civil Service, Costa, Amey, Co-op Food, GCHQ, NSPCC, College of Policing, The Army, Thomson Reuters, Chubb.

Simon was Chairman of Sussex University from 2007-13, a non-exec director of Housing & Care 21, and a Governor of the Museum of London. He was a co-founder of Stonewall and of the Kaleidoscope Trust, supporting LGBT activists abroad. He is currently on the Boards of Powerful Women and Brighton Dome & Festival.

He is also a broadcaster and writer. Simon was awarded an OBE in 2013 for services to Higher Education and made an Honorary Doctor of the University of Sussex for services to diversity and human rights.
