Call for new committee members - SFM

08 October 2025      Lucy Black, Associate Director – Campus Services

The Strategic Facilities Management special interest group committee is looking to expand, to ensure we can deliver on the ambitious workplan we have for 2025/6.  Could you devote some time to working with us, helping to support the work of FMs across the sector?  In return you will get to forge strong working relationships with colleagues from across the country, learn about FM topics in detail and even have some fun, writes Lucy Black, chair of the group.

The workplan for 2025/6 includes the following:

  • Benchmarking hard FM services, working with AUDE business partners
  • Producing template documents on a variety of topics for members
  • Professional and career development for FMs
  • Use of data in decision-making
  • Contract management

We will also be holding an in-person event just for FM in the early part of 2026, as well as potentially participating at other AUDE events.

We are looking for committee members who will take on work and be able to contribute to the workstreams above.  If you are interested, please send us a short statement by Friday 24 October including answers to the following:

  • Why are you interested in becoming a committee member?
  • Do you have knowledge/experience in any of the workstream topics?
  • Have you ever attended any of the SFM events, either in person or online?
  • What do you think you can offer the committee? Are there other topics that you would like to lead work on?

We are interested in reflecting the diversity of the AUDE community on the committee, and also the variety of universities in the sector and so welcome your interest no matter what kind of institution you represent.

If you would like a short chat about the role, please contact lucy.black@plymouth.ac.uk
