11 October 2017 Matt Sisson, Projects and Membership Manager
Some of you will know that BUFDG is part of Professional HE Services Ltd (PHES), but you might not know what PHES is, or what that means. In short, PHES is a shared service owned by most UK universities, which provides an operating framework for membership organisations that support the HE sector, such as BUFDG - known as Special Interest Organisations (SIOs). PHES enables SIOs to share a building, staff, financial and legal frameworks, website infrastructure, and other resources, which saves universities money, and helps the SIOs operate effectively and efficiently. There’s more about PHES on the website, here.
There were three SIOs under the PHES ‘umbrella’; the Association of Universities Directors of Estates (AUDE), the British Universities Finance Directors Group (BUFDG), the Higher Education Strategic Planners Association (HESPA). We’re pleased that, as of the 1st August, we have also been joined by Universities Human Resources (UHR), the support organisation for university HR professionals.
If you’d like to find out more about PHES and what it does, and why, get in touch with Dom or Matt, or any of the member SIO teams.
