Professor Rajat Gupta
Rajat Gupta is Director of the multi-disciplinary Oxford Institute for Sustainable Development (OISD) and Low Carbon Building Research Group at Oxford Brookes University (UK). He holds a senior professorial chair in sustainable architecture and climate change. Rajat’s research interests lie in building performance evaluation, post-occupancy feedback, local area energy mapping, urban energy modelling, smart energy communities and monitoring the risk of summertime overheating in buildings. As Principal Investigator (PI) he has won over £14 million in research grants from UK Research Councils (EPSRC, ESRC, NERC), Innovate UK and EU to investigate these subjects. Rajat has produced nearly 200 publications and is currently advising the UK's Ministry of Justice on overheating in buildings. He has been an ad hoc member of DEFRA’s Air Quality Expert Group.
Nick Keegan
Nick focusses on delivering advisory, audit, and verification services to EEVS’ public and commercial sector clients, as well as leading on systems and software development.
An expert in building energy efficiency and energy performance contracting, in 2015 Nick was involved in the development of the Scottish Government’s Non-Domestic Energy Efficiency Framework and has delivered independent performance measurement services for over £20m of projects procured under the scheme to date. He led UK input into two European Commission funded market research and development projects – Transparense & QualitEE – that aimed to increase trust in energy efficiency services through standards and quality assurance.
Nick currently leads EEVS’ independent verification services for Royal Mail and Vodafone - focussed on auditing the savings reporting from their energy optimisation programmes that delivered 17GWh (first year) and 100 GWh (first three years) respectively – and is delivering independent Measurement & Verification (M&V) planning and reporting for NHS and Local Authority carbon saving projects some of which are funded using the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS).
A Performance Measurement & Verification Expert (PMVE), Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP), and Certified Energy Manager (CEMI), Nick has worked on commercial energy saving projects since 2007. He studied Physics at Imperial College, London including masters level research in organic solar cells at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg, Germany. He acts as a Council Member at the Energy Services & Technology Association and is a professional member of the Energy Institute (MEI).
Hilary Wood
Hilary focuses on services to advise Energy Performance Contact end-users, as well as leading on EEVS’ training courses, internal standards and operations.
As one of the first cohort of professionals in the UK to qualify as a CMVP in 2009, Hilary is an expert in the field of Measurement & Verification; writing the MVA Manual for DECC’s Electricity Demand Reduction Pilot, developing technical schedules for Scottish Government’s Non-Domestic Energy Efficiency framework and providing training for clients across all sectors, including courses leading to professional qualifications in M&V. She currently leads our performance assurance services to Lloyds Banking Group, to audit the energy reductions achieved through their estate-wide ‘Total FM’ project with Mitie.
Hilary has an academic background in engineering, her previous experience also includes the development of geothermal power and solid oxide fuel cells for sustainable energy generation applications.
