Request for Information: Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Guide for members

25 April 2025      Richard Ralph, AUDE Projects and Engagement Officer

AUDE is collaborating with Arup to develop a Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience Guide to support members to address the impacts of climate change on their estates, focusing on climate change adaptation and the creation of a resilient estate.

The Guide is being co-created between AUDE members and Arup so that the recommendations are meaningful and actionable. It’s key that your experience and insights are included in the development of the Guide.

Arup have outlined an initial set of questions for members to respond to. The ask is that you review these and follow up with your response where possible.

We welcome thoughts from now and ask that you return any responses by Friday 16th May. Note, you do not need to provide a response to all three questions, only those where you have experience, insight or would like to share a summary of your thoughts.

The questions are outlined below, please respond via a means that you are most comfortable with (document, spreadsheet, email etc.).

Thank you for your ongoing support and participation.

Please send any questions and completed responses to our Arup colleagues:

Andy Sheppard andy.sheppard@arup.com

Insight Request

R1: Request to AUDE members to share case studies of any climate change resilience and adaptation measures that have been implemented across the University estate.

  • In the case study response, please outline the University type (e.g. city, campus), geography (e.g. rural, coastal) and location (e.g. central Scotland) in the case study and any particular co-benefits that were achieved.
  • Please include if the case study is public, and can be shared within the guidance, or if it is for information only.

R2: Request to AUDE members to share case studies relating to the governance approach to adaptation (and resilience if appropriate).

  • We are looking to understand where this is supporting structures for climate change adaptation and resilience and hear about best practice.
  • Outline if climate change is considered in your standard risk assessment process, where responsibility for delivering adaptation and resilience lies (e.g. a RACI or similar breakdown of roles).

R3: Request to AUDE members to share insight into the partners and partnerships they are working with to deliver resilience and adaptation, if any (e.g. local authority).

  • Is your university a core member of a local partnership that looks to deliver adaptation and resilience beyond the University, and more broadly across the local area and / or region?
  • We are looking to understand and gain insight into the delivery mechanisms of climate adaptation and resilience and as above, hear about best practices.
