COVID-19 & the Future of the University Estate Report

26 November 2020      Corinne Merriman, Events Manager

As AUDE's Executive Director Jane White writes in her introduction to the report - “Early in the first session of our ‘COVID-19 and the Future of the University Estate’ online event (5 – 16 October 2020) Fiona Duggan (of FiD) – who co-facilitated several sessions for us together with Wendy Sammels (Think Forward) - used the phrase ‘Nobody knows as much as everybody’ to describe the collaborative learning experience we’d embarked upon. I liked those words instantly, and we’ve used them for the title of this event report. For me, the phrase describes the entire pandemic experience to date, where whether as individuals, universities or societies we are in a daily process of learning how to manage with the huge new challenges the coronavirus has brought. The entire nine months of the pandemic so far has been one massive learning episode, in which we’ve needed each other’s knowledge and ideas to round out our own again and again. It was in this spirit of shared learning that we ran the event.”

We'd like to thank all the delegates, speakers and sponsors who made the event a success. In our report we are covering some of the themes that emerged - from COVID as an accelerator of change; to the role of our universities in our local communities; energy, environment and climate; and building a campus that is fit for the future.

Our report is now available to read online and download.
