London & South East Regional Chair Vacancy

20 December 2019      Cheryl Pick, Projects and Engagement Manager

Dear AUDE members,

There is now a vacancy for chair of the London and South East region. Thank you to former chair Jerry Woods for all his hard work and support over the last few years. We are also very grateful to Dr. Ghazwa Alwani-Starr for acting as an interim for the region during this time of change.

We are now looking for a Director or Deputy Director of Estates to take up this rewarding opportunity to chair the London and South East regional meetings.

As chair the term is for 3 years with an option of a further 3 years if re-elected.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to take the lead in shaping the HE Estates agenda both regionally and nationally. To raise your own and your institutions profile in the sector. And gain awareness of wider sector issues, adding to your personal development and CPD plan.

Job role descriptor

•To facilitate the meeting of AUDE members within your region at regular intervals

•To plan the meetings and chair them

•To represent your region on the AUDE executive (4 meetings per year) and feedback – or provide a representative of your region to attend the Executive

•To promote AUDE and the associations overriding objective – ‘to provide strategic support and innovation to those involved in Estates and Facilities Management within Higher Education.’

AUDE support to chair

•A £2000 regional L&D budget to help the group gain access to the very best and cutting edge information.

•AUDE’s Executive Director will support the regional chair.

•This may include, sourcing a venue (although typically held at members institutions on a volunteer rotation), sourcing speakers, liaising with regional members, communications, surveys etc.

•It is appreciated that the regional chair role holds autonomy and the chair should feel confident to conduct regional events in a way that meets the needs of their members.

The following is taken from the AUDE constitution;

9. REGIONAL GROUPS

a) Each Regional Group shall meet at least once a year and be responsible for its own agenda.

b) Each Regional Group shall have the power to determine attendance at Regional Group Meetings.

c) Each Regional Group shall determine its own constitution.

d) Each Regional Group shall elect one representative to the Executive Committee to serve for three years, renewable for a further consecutive period of three years.

e) Attendance at Regional Meetings may be open to non-member organisations but those organisations do not have voting powers in motions or elections, nor the right to hold the post of Chair or Representative of the Regional Group or Officer of the Association.
