I am pleased to tell you about a vacancy we have for the chair of the AUDE sustainability group.

This opportunity is open to all AUDE members and also comes with a seat on the Executive Committee.

AUDE are looking for an enthusiastic volunteer with sound knowledge of HE to become our Sustainability Group chair.

This person would be responsible for leading likeminded HE professionals in sourcing solutions to issues around sustainability in all its many forms in Universities.

AUDE is proud to have developed the Sustainability Leadership Scorecard in partnership with the EAUC and ARUP. The successful applicant will continue to spear head this project, including to promotion, marketing and commercial licencing to overseas institutions.

The chair of this group will ensure proper representation of seniority and specialist knowledge to create an effective working group. The group should also consist of members from across the geographies of member institutions and differing types of institutions (teaching, research etc)

AUDE have an inhouse team to help and support you. Including;

  • Jane White – Executive Director
  • Cheryl Pick – Projects and Engagement Manager
  • Corinne Merriman – Events Manager
  • Martin Higgs – Communications and Press Officer

The position is open to all AUDE members irrespective of role or seniority.

The successful candidate will:

  • Form a working group of members to help you deliver
  • devise a ToR document for the group (a template will be provided)
  • lead the SLS continual review, updates, marketing and commercial licensing
  • ensure that the HE sustainability agenda is considered in its fullest
  • create a hub of resources for members
  • scope and commission research projects
  • identify areas of improvement such as collaboration with other sector bodies and associations to enhance our work in this area for example the EAUC
  • work closely with the Executive Director, and AUDE staff
  • advise AUDE on the types of work streams to focus on
  • speak to press/journalists on occasion and/or recommend a suitable specialist
  • attend the full executive meetings, producing a short paper on the groups' work
  • attend the AGM

Time commitment includes:

  • 4x Sustainability Group meetings either telephone calls, video call of face-to-face meetings, per year
  • 4x Executive committee meetings per year, and
  • 1x AUDE AGM meeting
  • 8-10 days per year own time review of papers etc.

The term of office is 3 years with an option to extend for an additional 3 years.

You will receive full support and an induction from the AUDE office and a warm welcome from the Executive.
