I'm thrilled to share the news that AUDE member Diana Hampson and Director of Estates & Facilities at the University of Manchester has been awarded an MBE for services to higher education and the community in Greater Manchester. She is a chartered surveyor and has been Director of Estates and Facilities since 1997. During that time Diana steered the Directorate through the merger with UMIST in 2004 and has since successfully delivered an ambitious capital build programme creating new high quality facilities worth £1.5bn. The estate for which Diana is responsible comprises over 900,000 sq metres of academic, administrative, commercial and residential accommodation on 711 acres of land, mainly in the City of Manchester but also some locations further afield. In her role Diana is also involved in supporting local, regional and national initiatives. Away from the University she has supported a number of community activities and has organised many fund raising events for both local and national charities.
Diana is also pivotal member of the AUDE executive committee, chairing our conference steering group for a number of years as well as being an extremely active and supportive member of the association. On behalf of the executive committee and the wider AUDE membership, I'd like to congratulate Diana on this incredible achievement, a truly deserved honour.
