Join us for an inspiring webinar featuring Amanda Cook, a remarkable engineering professional who defied conventional paths and achieving success despite leaving school at the age of 16. Amanda will share her captivating journey, highlighting the challenges she encountered as one of the few women in a male-dominated industry. Her unwavering commitment to engineering excellence led her to make the audacious decision to pursue a bachelor's and master's degree whilst working full time. This decision not only enriched her with invaluable academic knowledge but also unlocked boundless possibilities, emboldening her to defy conventions and emerge as an innovative leader in her field.
As the BMS Manager at the University of St Andrews, Amanda spearheads the strategy, management, and operation of the University's Building Management Systems (BMS) and other Internet of Things (IoT) systems. Thriving in a dynamic and demanding environment, she has successfully implemented cutting-edge technologies, innovative solutions, and energy-saving strategies, significantly improving the efficiency and functionality of the University's buildings. During the webinar, Amanda will showcase her notable achievements, such as the swift deployment of LoRAwan networks and wireless CO2 sensors in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the unification of multiple standalone BMS systems across the campus to a single head end, and the successful transition from a centralised to a distributed BMS architecture.
