Living with a criminal record is often turbulent and presents a number of unique challenges, a notable example being the many barriers surrounding re-entering the workforce or meaningful educational programs.
This online panel debate hosted by LINK Strategic Partners features the Georgetown University’s Pivot Program and the UK’s Skill Mill, both dedicated to second-chance hiring for ex-offenders, as well as representatives from other organizations, universities, and businesses to discuss the potential of a blended learning environment that combines academia and work experience to provide pathways back into the workforce.
The session will highlight the many complicating factors involved when seeking work with a criminal record, and how this impacts individuals and the community at large. It will break down tried and tested models which empower and support ex-offenders, coming home to begin their next chapter. It will compare and contrast insights from program leads and the different approaches engaged.
A common theme running concurrently throughout the design of these models is to build up ex-offenders and prepare them for the future through mutually beneficial working experiences and practical learning and development experiences.
Hear from this dynamic group of academics, professionals, community leaders, and experts as they work to create a sustainable and meaningful path forward – for everyone.
