The focus has been on enhancing staff experience as well as delivering greater inclusion for students and staff who use the services of Estates and facilities at King's College London. The Directorate of E&F has always been committed to embedding and championing Equality, Diversity & Inclusion across all its activities, ensuring that the University fosters the greatest possible sense of belonging among its diverse community, strengthening this commitment with tangible results and meaningful and lasting impact.
A one-year action plan was developed including a roll out of Trans Awareness Training (linked to King’s Athena SWAN action plan), the development of a bespoke race awareness training programme, and a commitment to continue funding spaces on Stellar HE - a leadership programme for staff from a Black, Asian, or minority ethnic (BAME) background. Alongside this, longer term EDI objectives were being embedded into the Directorates 3-year People Plan allowing commitment to long term investment in improving the staff experience. This included a commitment to improve the proportions of women, and staff from a BAME background in Grades 6+ and improving proportions of disabled people across all our grades.
The Directorate signed up to the Mencap Supported Internship scheme as a positive action initiative to provide work trials for young people with learning disabilities.
