Title: Energy and occupation as one decision: reducing running costs through combined consumption and occupation data
Date: 19 November 2026
Time: 10.00 - 11.00
Synopsis
Energy is now the principal driver behind property costs outstripping inflation for a third consecutive year across the sector. Reducing energy use significantly reduces the cost of occupying space. Detailed analysis of building energy consumption helps to identify areas where savings can be made. But so too does understanding when a building is being used. Co-ordinating occupancy data (such as wifi use) helps to understand when a building is being actively used and when it requires heating/cooling.
By using the occupancy data actively with the energy controls, institutions can tailor their heating/cooling schedules to meet the actual use of buildings.
