Annual Conference 2017

A year in the making and it showed; the AUDE 2017 conference provided members, exhibitors and speakers with three days of informative content, timely conversation and a warm north west welcome from our host Ian McManus, director of estates, at Manchester Metropolitan University.

The business school was our home for the duration and the programme was jointly hosted by Simon Fanshawe, Diversity by Design and Michael Taylor, external affairs advisor, MMU. With a mix of plenaries, interactive break-out sessions, guest speakers and good contact time with exhibitors, the initial feedback from members has been a positive balance of formal content and good time to network.

I’m sure delegates would agree the AUDE award and gala dinner was another high point of the conference, reminding us all the excellence achieved in estates and facilities through talented individuals, teams and innovative projects. Read more about the winners and highly commended.

On the Monday afternoon, members attended our AGM where the role of AUDE chair was formally handed over from Trevor Humphreys (University of Surrey) to Mike Clark (University of Brighton). Thanks and gifts were presented to Trevor for his leadership over for the last 12 months and to Sue Holmes (Oxford Brookes) as her role as past chair. A special mention was also given to Andrew May (University of Hertfordshire) for leading AUDE’s press and PR which will end in May 2017 as he leaves to a new role outside of the HE sector. Keith Lilley (Sheffield University) is unopposed as chair elect.

With too many moments to do justice to in a brief write up, please enjoy watching the highlights video below.
